Linde Horree (23) from Bodegraven has completed an impressive six-day walking tour of 125 km called Het Gelukkigerwijspad afgelegd. The tour was entirely initiated by herself and aims to raise as much money as possible for research into the hereditary condition HSP (Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia), from which her father Alex suffers.
HSP is a progressive muscle disease that leads to pain, muscle spasms, and severe mobility restrictions. Alex is now fully dependent on a wheelchair. Linde says: “I see how deeply the disease affects my father’s daily life. That’s why I want to do something for him and for others with HSP.”
On the first day of the walk, her mother, Jackie van der Vlis, joined in. Afterwards, supporters took turns walking alongside Linde each day, with the varying landscapes symbolising the difficult road that HSP patients face every day.
So far, the initiative has raised €5,500 for the Life4HSP Foundation. Linde emphasises: “Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference.” With her tour, she hopes not only to raise awareness of this relatively unknown but highly impactful condition, but also to bring a message of hope.
