Illusionist Hans Klok handed over a cheque for \u20ac55,124 to the Radboud Fonds,<\/a> on Friday, August 29, on behalf of the Life4HSP Foundation. The <\/span>festive <\/span>presentation <\/span>took<\/span> place<\/span> in <\/span>Klok's<\/span> theater tent <\/span>at the event grounds<\/span> in Huizen. The cheque <\/span>was<\/span> officially<\/span> received <\/span>by<\/span> Fr\u00e9deriqu\u00e9<\/span> Donders <\/span>from<\/span> the <\/span>Radboud Fonds<\/span>, Jorik <\/span>Nonnekes<\/span> and<\/span> Lotte van de Venis from <\/span>Radboudumc<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hans Klok has been an ambassador for Life4HSP since this year. His involvement is personal: a close friend of the illusionist suffers from the rare neuromuscular disorder Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Research into home training program<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

The donation will be used for research into the \u2018Re-Train HSP\u2019 program: an innovative home-based training approach developed by <\/span>\u2018Re-Train HSP\u2019-programma<\/span><\/a> With digital guidance from therapists, patients can train from home in a targeted way to improve fitness, aiming to counter stiffness and spasticity. This can significantly enhance their independence and quality of life.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex Sijm, board member of Life4HSP, emphasized the importance: <\/span>\u201cThis initiative allows patients to train easily and personally from home. The support from Radboudumc is invaluable.\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

About Life4HSP<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Stichting Life4HSP werd in mei 2025 opgericht en haalde sindsdien al ruim \u20ac130.000,- op. Naast de bijdrage aan het Radboud Fonds waarvan er bijna \u20ac70.000,- bestemd voor Europees medicijnonderzoek om de ziekte te stoppen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The foundation is supported by an active group of volunteers, donors, and ambassadors. The request for support of the Re-Train HSP program came directly from Radboudumc and fits seamlessly with Life4HSP\u2019s mission: to stimulate research and improve the quality of life for HSP patients.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
